Applying for Digital Nomad Visa in Croatia

Even though it is often referred to as the Digital Nomad Visa, it is actually a temporary residence permit. On December 2nd of 2020, Narodne Novine published the new and revised law regarding the immigration of foreigners and made the residence permit official.

In the law, digital nomads are defined as follows: ‘digital nomad is a third-country national who is employed or performs work through communication technology for a company or his own company that is not registered in the Republic of Croatia and does not perform work or provides services to employers in the Republic of Croatia’. Non-EU-citizens that work for a foreign company with proof of regular income of at least HRK 16,907.50 (€2,232 $2,629) can apply for the permit.

Digital Nomad Visas are for 6 months or up to 1 year and they are non-extendable. When your last permit expires, you must wait 6 months before applying for a new permit. You must leave for 90 days, then you can come back and spend 90 days as a tourist before applying again.

If you need a Visa to enter the Republic of Croatia, you need to submit the application at the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Croatia or online.
